Cattlemens Western Art Show and Sale
2014 Featured Artist, Barron Postmus
The San Luis Obispo County Cattlemen’s Association is very honored to announce Barron Postmus has been selected as this year’s Featured Artist for their 24nd Annual Western Art Show and Sale to be held at the Paso Robles Event Center in California.

A native Californian, Barron Postmus spent several years in Hawaii before returnBarron Postmusing to school at the Los Angeles Art Center. A tour in the army took him to Europe where he served as an illustrator. After the service, he was hired as a technical illustrator by a large aerospace firm. The next few years saw him promoted rapidly to graphics designer and in 1968 Barron opened his own graphic design, illustration and advertising agency. Even then he was working for the day when fine art oil painting would be his single

The results of his efforts can be seen today in top art galleries throughout the country as well as in private and corporate collections including Infonet of El Segundo, the Sears Tower in Chicago, and in the VIP lounge of the Aladdin Hotel in Las Vegas. Barron has won numerous regional and international awards, has been invited to participate in many juried exhibitions along with many one-man shows, and has had his work selected several times by the Arts For The Parks and International Arts Magazine.

End of Day

 

The American Plains Artists Annual Juried Exhibition and Sale opened at the Kerr Arts and Cultural Center in Kerrville, Texas on February 6, 2014 with top honors going to Barron Postmus for his oil painting "End Of Day" (24 x 26) winning Best Of Show.  The same piece also was given the Plains Sky award and the ribbon for the Golden Spur (Artists' Choice).

Barron's current work continues to reflect the beauty of landscape with a detailed and classical technique of traditional oil on canvas. He also welcomes commissions and working with collectors.

Barron resides in Southern California with his wife of 33 years, Jane Skeeter. They have four grown children and are the proud grandparents of six. Barron is a true artist whose talents also include writing and classical music. He enjoys athletics and traveling to paintable locales.
